You Have A Voice

I have a voice but I can’t use it

I have a story but I can’t tell it

I have a testimony but I can’t share it

Have you ever felt silenced?

Silenced by fear, silenced by insecurity, silenced by pain, silenced by society, silenced by the past. Maybe you feel like you are holding your own hands over your mouth, stopping yourself from speaking out truth because silence seems safer.

There is a time and a season for silence in all our lives:

“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.” Ps 62:5

“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips” Ps 141:3

There is wisdom in silence but what about when we are made to be silent? When we are pressured by outside forces to keep our mouth shut when God is calling us to stand and speak the truth? Whether that’s truth you need to remind yourself of, or truth that you need to speak out against injustice and oppression.

Are you listening to a world that is telling you that your voice doesn’t matter because of your gender, that your voice will not be believed, and it won’t count?

What is keeping you silent when you should be raising your voice in confidence, strength and truth?

We all have a calling as women of Truth to use our voice, the enemy knows this well, and he is keeping a multitude silent under torment and shame. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough, and I sense the heart of God has had enough. It’s time that we stand in His truth, that we hold our heads high in a society that wants to shut us up, and that we raise our voices for those who cannot.

“Speak up for the people who have no voice, for the rights of all the down-and-outers. Speak out for Justice! Stand up for the poor and destitute” Proverbs 31:8-9

God has given us a voice, as His daughters, to speak up for those who have no voice.

God has given us a directive to stand and fight for justice.

God has given us His heart for the poor and the impoverished.

Our voice is the greatest weapon that God has given us – how are we using that weapon?

“A fools lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating. A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul” Proverbs 18:6-7

We misuse the weapon of our voice when we raise our voice in foolishness, spite or rage. We use our weapon well when we raise it against injustice and oppression with gentleness, kindness, Holy Spirit strategy and godly righteousness.

The enemy has kept us quite for long enough – we have a place right alongside the men of God to lift our voices as one people. One humanity, male and female, the representation of God to the world. If together we raise our voices and cry out for those who cannot, cry out for the poor, cry out for justice, cry out for the heart of God to be seen and felt. We will see a revival in our neighborhoods, in our government and in the wider society.

God has given us His wisdom to speak, stand and walk with those who are still captive in their silence. As we seek His wisdom, we find our voice and that voice finds power as we work with God to pursue justice, restoration and freedom for the oppressed.

IT’S TIME WE FOUND OUR VOICE OF FREEDOM
