Tangled Desire

Disney’s Tangled is possibly my favourite of the modern princess movies. It has a ridiculously upbeat soundtrack, great physical comedy involving a horse and a chameleon, a story of a family reunited and ugly thugs who sing a charming song about their quirky dreams. I know that a song from a movie has stuck with me when I find myself adding it to my running playlist, and the two from Tangled that accompany me on my morning runs have a similar theme. “I’ve Got a Dream” is sung by the aforementioned ugly thugs, who aspire to more than just being small time criminals as they long for the fullest expression of themselves, mostly through creative means. 5 minutes with Greta

Tell us a little about you Hi! I’m Greta. 33, married to Mark, mum to a 3.5 year old girl and 5 month old boy. I grew up in a wonderful home that had a very nominal attitude to faith. When I was 13, I started going to a Church of Christ youth group that was undergoing charismatic renewal. I have no idea how, but over the course of a year, I ended up in a small group and going to church regularly. There was no “aha!” conversion moment - for me, following Jesus was like slowly waking up. I was baptised at 15 and felt called to study theology at 16 after reading CS Lewis’ “Mere Christianity”. After finishing a journalism degree, I completed an MA in Biblical Studies, then completed an MTh in

Tell us a little about you I’m Karyn, I’m 35, I live and love in Townsville Queensland. I have been a Christian since I was 7 years old, after making an independent decision to follow Christ after specifically asking to attend a program at my local church, which at that time was Bowen AOG. I originally felt the call of God on my life to serve humanity when I was a teen on a short-term missions trip in China, and subsequently trained for my Bachelor’s of Social Work at James Cook University. Unbeknownst to me at the time, God had other plans to use that training for working with people to pivot me in a different direction, which you will read about as my story unfolds. What's your favourite b

Transformation

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 Watching the 1950 version of Cinderella I am struck by
