5 minutes with Claire ...
- Tell us a little about you
I live in Hobart, where I get to watch the moon rise over the river and set behind the mountain, all from the windows of my house. I have three children aged between 12 months and 4.5 years. I trained as a clinical psychologist but these days mostly apply that to myself while trying to stay afloat each day amidst the craziness of small kids.
- What's your favourite bible passage & why?
Colossians 3:12-14. Not so much a favourite as something I need to be constantly reminded of!
- How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?
By sharing my life with others, especially other women, who encourage me to keep trusting and turning to Jesus.
- What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?
That even at times (moments, days, years) when you don't feel like you know who you are, God does. He knows who you are, even when you don't know yourself.
- What's one thing that you love about your local church?
It feels like an extension of our home, and not just because it's right next door.
- What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?
He is patient and kind. There were quite a few years where I felt like I was in a spiritual wilderness, but all the way through God was patiently waiting, and holding onto me.
- What are you passionate about?
Supporting others at a similar stage of life as me, and being honest about my daily struggles and frustrations to allow others to be the same. Not so that we can all just gripe together, but so that we can encourage each other and point each other to our heavenly Father, who cares for us and loves our children more than we ever can.
- What do you enjoy doing when you rest?
When I have time to myself I have a strong need to make things - it keeps me sane and lets me feel like I'm doing something constructive. Mostly I knit, and plan to sew but hardly ever do. I also like reading, especially if I can knit at the same time.
