5 minutes with Kate ...

Tell us a little about you

Wow! In few lines.... I'm a follower of Jesus, a wife, a mother, a paediatric hospital chaplain and a trainer of chaplains. I grew up in Christian home but did not come to faith until my mid 20. I was part of the mass exodus from the church in the 1970's and sympathise with those who reject a dry shell of faith because it seems irrelevant, judgmental or simply makes no sense. I have a passion for seeing people come to know Jesus of scripture, authentically and personally.

What's your favourite bible passage & why?

I love the 'big' passages such as the opening verses of John's Gospel or Colossian 1:15-23. I love the majesty and broad sweep of all that is, has been, and is to come and the comfort that comes from knowing that Christ has it all in hand.

How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?

Habits. Habits of prayer; reading scripture; continuing to intentionally stay close to Christ; and not neglecting to meet regularly with the body of Christ.

What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?

Women have always been the glue of the Christian community, transmitting and modelling the love of Jesus through timely and wise words and sacrificial service, some of the most powerful ministries go un-noticed by other people, but God alone knows the value of a faithful and long obedience. Fix your eyes on Jesus and ask what he has for you to do, he will not disappoint.

What's one thing that you love about your church?

Its desire to share Christ authentically.

What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?

That at times God will ask us to accept something that we don't necessarily want or like, but he also gives us the courage to change towards Him.

What are you passionate about?

The provision of excellent Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care

What do you enjoy doing when you rest?

Family time, reading and being allowed to go slow without feeling guilty!!
