5 minutes with Louisa ...

Tell us a little about yourself

My name is Louisa I am 26 years old and I am married to Simon. I am currently working in university ministry in Sydney but next year I am heading to bible college to study a Masters of Divinity at SMBC. During my childhood I lived in the US for 10 years with my family but Australia has always been my true home.

What's your favourite bible passage & why?

My favourite bible passage is psalm 146 particularly verses 1-3. It has been a powerful ongoing reminder how great our God is and that he is our refuge in whom we can trust irregardless of the craziness that’s happening in life. He is always there for me and demonstrates that even when I weather a storm God has been there by my side the whole time. It’s an amazing reminder to me of who God is.

How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?

My family loves to talk about theology which has been extremely formative for me we usually can’t get through a catch up without talking about an aspect of theology. I also love the bible and particularly reading it with others and hearing what they are learning and being able to see new things together is an awesome blessing.

What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?

I would love women to know that God has a place for them in his kingdom that they are loved, cherished and valued. I also have a deep desire to see women having opportunities to explore and develop their giftings in service of God. I want to be a role model for the next generation so that they can see what women are doing in the church and believe that they could be doing those things too.

What's one thing that you love about your local church?

I love the community I have been apart of for 15 years now, to be known and to know others well. I also love the opportunities my church provides for service and their encouragement of me pursuing ministry.

What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?

I learnt that God has a plan for me that is bigger than my own and that even when I cannot see it he is leading and guiding me on the path that he has for me. God is bigger and more amazing than we ever can imagine and even through challenging times I have had glimpses of the character of God and his love for me

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about seeing men and women flourish in the love and service of God. I am passionate about my family. I am passionate about seeing faith impact all of life. this is probably linked to my work as a registered nurse and thinking about how faith impacts my practice as a nurse and in my work with health students at university how faith impacts their practice as well.

What do you enjoy doing when you rest?

I love watching movies! I like have time to reflect and process. I like spending time with my husband or catching up with a good friend.
