Tell us a little about yourself

I’m the Church History lecturer at Morling College. I’ve been married to my fantastic husband Peter for over 25 years and we have two wonderful children, Joel and Lara.

What's your favourite bible passage & why?

Philippians is probably my favourite book of the Bible, with its emphasis on the joy of following Jesus in all circumstances, especially chapter 2 on the imitation of Christ and 4:6-8: “Don’t be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about these things.” These also connect with a couple of my favourite verses from Romans: 8:28, “All things work together for good…” and 12:1-2, “Don’t be conformed, but be transformed…”

How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?

Well, I’m not always successful, but reading the Bible daily and praying is a good start.

What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?

Your identity is in Christ, not in what the world says or what other people think. God made you with a unique blend of personality, interests and abilities, he’s given you new life, and he can redeem all that’s happened, good and bad, to make a difference for him. So seek first his kingdom, and everything you need will be given to you. (Matt 6:25-34 – another good passage!)

What's one thing that you love about your local church?

The great connections with the community, especially the pre-school and local primary school.

What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?

Even when things are tough, God’s grace abounds – there’s still a lot to be thankful for.

What are you passionate about?

Seeing people transformed by the renewing of their minds and the offering of their lives.

What do you enjoy doing when you rest?

Reading, watching cricket and sleeping – they can all be done while lying on the lounge!
