5 minutes with Liz ...

I have been working in Churches for over 12 years in operations and administration. I love the work and the people I come in contact with day to day. I have a background in Marketing and PR and use those skills where I can. I’m married with two boys, a step daughter and two grandsons. I have lived in Sydney most of my life (apart from a stint in London), and love this city! My favourite bible passage Romans 8:17 “Now if we are children, then we are heirs - heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” I love that we are co-heirs with Christ, not slaves of some honoured family, not neighbours but brothers and sisters in Christ. In a family, we all belong. I keep my eyes fixed on Jesus because every day, I look in the mirror and see how lacking I am. How selfish, sinful and preoccupied with myself. I need to remind myself that the great Shepherd of the sheep, will equip me with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in me what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ. I would love the next generation of Christian women to know how amazing, beautiful, encouraging and wonderful the local church is. I truly cannot understand how I would continue to follow Jesus without the church. Which leads perfectly into my love of the local church and my Church Darling Street. When I finally found my place in the church, the change in me was incredible. I understood God’s love for me because he created me to have a part in the body. Everyone has a place in the body, all parts are necessary and if we were all one part, where would the body be? I did think that once I became a Christian, the hard parts of life would skip me by. I did learn that the hard parts, are really some of the greatest parts of life. That grief can change you forever and that it helps me to feel the grief of others, to share their pain in some small way. To share the pain of the father who sees his children turn away from him. And to keep on with this race, so that not one can say they didn’t know. I am passionate about people finding their place in the Church and the body of Christ. I have personally grown so much and matured in my faith, once I became part of the family of church, not just a visitor. My other passion is knitting. I am NEVER without a knitting project. I knit constantly and joyfully. I really hope that I can knit in eternity! It must be a good pastime, I’m sure God knitted …. Psalm 139:13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
