Tell us a little about yourself
I was born in Sydney, and moved to Adelaide with my family when I was young. I have grown up on a property in the Adelaide Hills, where I have always enjoyed exploring and going for walks. I am a very creative person; I love all things art, colour, and photography. Sport has also been a big part of my life. I’ve played for tennis, soccer, basketball, netball and rowing teams. I have just completed my first year at Uni, studying a Bachelor of Design. I hope to pursue a career in travel photography, or work with a travel magazine. Family is very important to me; I have three siblings and very supportive parents.
What's your favourite bible passage & why?
Philippians 4:6 & 7
“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” [Amplified version]
I love how this verse tells us that even when life gets hard, God has everything under control. When I pray and give everything to him, his peace will fill our lives, taking away all our anxieties and worry, bringing more freedom and joy.
How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?
It can be so difficult to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus in today’s society, but I try to make a conscious effort to read the bible daily, and to set aside time to be in his presence to allow me to live out a life that he desires for us.
What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?
That the beauty of who they are on the inside is much more important to God than what we look like on the outside. It is important to look after ourselves, but to not let that define completely who we are, as God cares more about our heart and attitude.
What's one thing that you love about your local church?
I love that my church is centered on getting to know the heart of people, and who they are in Christ. Everyone is very inclusive and eager to help each other grow in their faith. We also have weekly group meetings which allow us to get to know one another better and further develop our relationship with Christ.
What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?
I learnt that God is always present in our lives, even when we don’t feel him there. Often he works in ways we least expect, but he will always make a way for good.
What are you passionate about?
I am super passionate about wildlife, nature and landscape photography, and capturing the beauty of God’s creation!
What do you enjoy doing when you rest?
